Deer, rabbits and the great fence debate
Every season someone loses a whole bed overnight. What has actually held up here: • Deer: 8ft is the honest answer. Two staggered 4ft fences a few feet apart also works because deer will not jump what they cannot judge. • Rabbits: 2ft chicken wire buried 6 inches. Above ground only, and they dig right under it. • Groundhogs: trapping, or accept the loss. Nothing else has worked for us. • Repellent sprays: fine for a week, useless after rain. What is working on your property? Anyone tried electric netting for deer out east?
